1. My spirit was abused by spirits early in life, continuing for all but the last few hours.

2. I am a unicorn, who was wrapped in a dragon, who was wrapped in a giant enigma, who was caught in a conspiracy of Spirit to keep humankind alive at the Will of the Universe. I am finally fully unwrapped, but I am not yet fully revealed.

3. I am a unicorn. Everything else is illusion.

4. We are not horses. We're more like deer. We are not deer.

5. Wow I have been fighting hard to get away from dominant people.

6. I might not need to. I AM a dominant person...

7. I hate myself. And you can't help if you don't respect me.

8. I have the power to stop hurting.

Gender is genetic, physical, socialized, performative, and costumed.

To wit:

Genetic: what your chromosomes say your gender probably is.
Physical: what your body expresses, before, during, and after puberty. This may be a result of genes or of hormones, or of other factors such as environmental chemicals, surgery, or accident.
Socialized: what your social environment expresses and approves of, which becomes internalized rather than consciously performed.
Performative: what you express through your own body, words, and actions.
Costumed or decorative: what you wear or place on/about yourself to express signs of gender. This includes clothing, makeup, personal accessories, and things not physically worn like the decoration of one's environment (a favorite art object or piece of furniture; posters on the bedroom wall; et cetera).

This post is channeled from my higher Self. It is not the personal opinion of any particular incarnate individual, but an aggregate. That said, it is also the aggregate biased by my soul, and my soul's experiences.

I begin.

To the thought of belief, one asks the question, what is it? This is the basis of understanding, but it is also beneath any who already understand what belief is. I will define it anyway, so we have a common ground for the following digression.

"Belief" is the continuing sustenance of a particular thought which founds one's action.
To wit: if one believes that Earth is alive as any being, conscious and able to communicate with others, one will act in a manner which implies this belief is true. If one believes that abortion (to be controversial) is evil, then one will act in a manner which implies this belief is true. This says nothing of whether these beliefs are objectively true, but rather concerning the thoughts on which a person founds their actions.

So.Read more... )

This is the final means of testing belief:
By their fruits you shall know them.

This channeling is finished.

Right.
Someone I follow in Dreamwidth is tired of violence as culture. I agree. Even warrior cultures don't make violence the whole culture! If there's nothing to fight for, then there's no fight!

So I am going to channel now from my oversoul (not just my higher Self, but the part of my soul well above that), on the subject of peace.

--

WE BEGIN.
First, you must know what peace is. It is not the absence of struggle, but placidity within.

To acquire placidity is a problem: do you struggle to gain it, or do you fall subject to ennui in its pursuit? Only one answer then comes to mind. That answer is to reach, and if there is struggle, then so be it. In order to give oneself placidity, one must be willing to strive.

How does one find peace when one is wounded? For it is in wounds that peace is disturbed and removed! And the answer comes only reluctantly:

Heal. Heal yourself. Heal your wounds. Heal others, their wounds. Only in healing can one find peace.

But peace is more than simply being undisturbed. A sociopath is undisturbed at violence. A monstrous person encourages the violence, and is not disturbed in its commission. So peace is something more than a removal of passion, different from passion in commitment.

Peace is when one feels at rest in one's action. When one does not suffer in one's doing and one's thinking. Peace is rarely found except in the most holy of persons on this world; but it can be found anywhere.

To know peace is to know one is subject to passion; to know that passion is best given purpose; to know that purpose is driven only by passion, not by hatred. Hatred, anger, fear, sorrow: these are emotions, not the only sources of passion.

Love, joy, delight, hope: these are also sources of passion. These emotions are true as well, and should be engaged regularly. Physical contact is important, if not always available, but it is not necessary in order to engage passion.

Why are peace and passion considered opposites? Indeed, peace is best found in engaging one's passion constructively! Let us believe that, rather than throwing passion into the gulf of evil.

When we give up hatred, we are often left empty; where we were filled with a mass of darkness, we now have space. To give us well-being, we should consider easing the ache with something until the wound it resided in heals properly. Thus, we commit to habits of goodness. We replace the "devils" with "angels", to use a metaphor, and thus keep the evils from returning to power within us.

Let us contemplate now a few simple sayings that can be used to engage with peace.
--
"I came to heal, not destroy. If you would destroy me, you lose the healing I would provide you."

"In Hope rises Man's best capability: desire for Possibility in accomplishment."

"'I love you.' This phrase gives us strength nothing else can. Use it carefully, for it is not to be twisted."

"When we give of ourselves, we are saying that we wish to sustain those to whom we give. Give well!"

"To create peace, first create oneself in peace."

[Here, Peace as entity is speaking] "I dwell in the sacred water. Drink gently, for peace will overwhelm if you are not used to it."
--
One last meditation.
It is a Zen contemplation:
Which is more powerful: peace, or violence?

The rest is left as an exercise for the student.

Feeling very much like spouting Tao from my soul, but who wants to listen to a snarky wise guy talk about sacred balance and peace?

Then again, I'd like to listen to a snarky but wise comedian explain sacred balance and peace, so maybe I should anyway.

But I'm NOT calling it "Tao of the Asshole", that would just devolve into fart jokes...

These are the classes of magic as known to Spirit. The classes are the first column, ranked in order of power. After them are the sub-divisions within each, ranked in order of most-basic to most-complete.

Thought - Sensation, Observation, Learning, Metaphor, Abstraction, Integration
Life - Fertility, Conception, Gestation, Birth, Development, Maturation, Parenting, Elderhood, Death, Decay
Creation - Fallowness, Inspiration, Formation, Manifestation, Destruction
Material - Environment, Element, Experience, Substance, Properties/Qualia, Energy
Environment - Space, Time, Location, Matter, Energy, Pattern, Purpose, Meaning
Mechanism - Pressure, Device, Linkage, Conduit, Comparator/Computation
Communication - Witness, Transmission, Reception, Connection, Communion, Understanding

Classes, not schools. Schools = of philosophy and denominative belonging; Classes = divisions between basic natures.

If one were to describe these in Dungeons and Dragons terms, these would be schools of clerical magic. The schools of wizardly magic would be the processes by which magic operates. Note that Blueprinters will ONLY use such descriptions as means of accessibility, rather than as the nature by which they use magic; we are taught better than to confuse a game with reality, the metaphor for the substance, the map for the territory.

For example, Transformation (a process) may be based in ANY class or classes of magic, but MUST include these two properties: The change of basic nature from one state to another; The inception, transition, and completion of the transformation process.

----

Now, these are the processes of magic as known to Spirit. Each is ranked in order of most commonly useful to least, followed by a basic description of the process. Note that even the supposedly least-useful are still very powerful! They are simply not as commonly effective upon the context of operations when attempting to enact a magical working, but sometimes they are the only way to accomplish a particular purpose.

Invocation - Words of power and purpose, the calling-up and manifestation of spirit/other into something/someone
Transformation - Changing of basic structure, nature, or purpose
Abjuration - Command or direction
Charming - Not direction of thought! Imbuing of power, the formation and use of charms (objects of power which are meant to emanate, transform, or direct energies around them to some purpose)
Binding - Connecting things to each other, the creation of enchantments (magics bound to something/someone/someplace) and phylacteries (physical things/places/beings which are bound to certain magics)
Summoning and dismissal - Calling forth or filling in, and sending away or clearing out
Illusion and evocation - Imagery and sensation (including befuddlement/confusion), manifesting the presence of an energy or being

(This was channeled early this morning, and I was told to post it to my journal here. It seems I've had a very busy few days now that I'm focused on healing a physical problem.)

I am Ruby, of the gemstones. I will tell you of the stones and crystals which are attuned to Otherkin and some therians.

As this essay is of necessity only a partial accounting, I will close with these words:
If you need to understand a stone, or solve a particular problem, it is okay to ask a stone both if it is appropriate to your needs, as well as whether it would recommend a different stone for the need or use you have for it.

The soul of aikido is release from violence.

Violence is survival-focused response to suffering, whether expressed through the body, mind, or soul; it typically originates in physical suffering.

The fastest release from suffering is death; the best is kindness. This is aikido at its purest.

The anti-pattern for war is victory, not peace. In order to end a war and not leave people wanting more, some form of victory must be attained. It is best if the victory comes not through the destruction of others, but through a mutual understanding and willingness to share and communicate between the participants; but if one or another side maintains belligerence (literally the desire for war), then their exclusion may be warranted. This does not mean we call them "outlaw" and enact our worst upon them, but rather that we reduce our interactions and choose carefully how and what we communicate with them. Integration may be desirable, or ostracism, but we must be careful and specific about which we mean to enact. And in order to retain the sense of the war being over, we must refuse to manipulate for our own ends, but instead work openly toward the stated goal wherever possible.

Peace comes when safety is felt to be at hand, and food and shelter are secure. War disrupts security in order to obtain victory and resources. In order to have peace, we must secure victory in supplying each person and family sufficient, healthy, viable food and shelter. We must educate for an informed, thoughtful citizenry able to resist coersion and consider for both public and personal good, rather than a grasping and coercive consumery seeking the next thrill from their suppliers (whether the local junk food store or the financial pockets of everyone in their sight).

That means we will have to once again enable thoughtful consideration of religions and spiritual beliefs, regardless of personal belief. Fundamentalism is a tool of the manipulative, because it limits thought and reduces examination to those paths which are carefully pruned to support the fundamentalist regime. By teaching ways to counter fundamentalist thought, we enable honest conservative behavior, as well as the ability to think rationally even when overcome with emotion.

If citizens think more rationally, we will examine the behavior of our governments more rationally. We won't rise up; we will simply discard the things which attempt to own us. We will give them more functional limits, understanding more of the basis by which they operate. We will choose better ways which are validated by repeated success, instead of those ways which are based in myth and which are not anywhere near as successful as believed.

When we can conquer our own evils as a people through self-examination and reflective conversation, we will have the victory we seek. When we are able to give each other what we each need to live reasonably healthy lives, we will have peace.

This is how we will create world peace: By making peaceful our own homes and societies, and then teaching the ways of victory and peace as rationally understood. Accept all students who wish to learn these things. Let them travel where they will when they leave. Let us learn to build together the things we each need.

And peace will begin to reign upon Earth, till we are suffused with it, shining as with the light of the gods and angels. It will be the greatest victory of mankind.

This is channeled from Inari:

Welcome, reader. You have been given an opportunity to understand how gods work!

First, you should understand that I am not a fox. My priests know this, but I don't mind fox imagery with me. Foxes are very important predators for the safety of the rice harvest! I am first and foremost a prosperity god. Horse and rice are my symbols, though horse has been long forgotten by most.

Second, the way gods work is simple: the Universe decides that you should have control over its primary functions. That is, that you should be able to bend time and space in the way that enables the abilities we have come to know of major spirits and deific beings: miraculous healing, a change in the motions of objects and materials, even occasional resurrections of the dead. Some know how to transform materials. These are difficult things at best, requiring inputs of energy which are on occasion nearly impossible to generate for anything less than a stellar body.

Third, I should explain that previous paragraph. You see, I have been studying under dragons and Blueprint Masters for some centuries as to my own nature, and the nature of those who rank with me in the Celestial Hierarchy. We have been empowered to do some very interesting things and I have been curious as to what enables this activity.

I have determined that there are structures in the mammalian brain which allow psychic interaction between flesh and spirit, but this is not actually what allows for telekinesis, telepathy, or even psychic empathy. Instead there is a junction between which is part of the chakra structure of the spirit body, which allows signals to pass through to the greater Soul. This junction enables the psychic activity of living persons. It also happens to be a common means by which greater spirits manipulate their environment; typically this only happens after at least two incarnations, sometimes three. This is because a spirit must understand the importance of the material realm to their own well-being, and be able to understand interactions with it in order to work with the substances and beings therein.

Now as to the question at hand: what makes gods: I have but one answer. This is difficult to channel through, despite Zeeth's quite capacious ability, but.

There is a structure which is a six-dimensional connection to a seven-dimensional space. The soul resides outside this Universe; it is my theory that each soul is its own Universe, actually. So a god-soul appears to manifest a seven-dimensional structure which directly interfaces with the "skin" or "brane" (short for "membrane") of the Universe's space. This allows the entity to bend spacetime and direct energy across a very wide region and with a very narrow focus. All the rest is about making "commands" like one would to a computer's operating system. These commands form spell-like structures which are made of Universe-substance, and are therefore unbreakable to us -- even to gods. In order to cancel a command, one must undo the structure, rather than tearing space.

To explain why I say "space" rather than "spacetime" would involve a long rant on the current state of human science. It is sufficient to say that time is a function of the motion of space, rather than a combined part of space. It is not like electromagnetism, which is as Zeeth says a right-angle pair of energy functions. Time does not exist if space does not move, but space exists even with time frozen.

In any case, even greater spirits do not have this god-type connection. This is the definition of godhood.

And it is removable. To gain this, the Universe must allow a soul to connect in this way. To remove it, the Universe will simply let go.

What I wish to tell you next, reader, will not shock you if you have been following closely. In the large majority of Realms (domains of operation for specific regions in spirit), it takes a super-majority of gods in a given Realm to enable godhood. To disable it requires unanimous consent. The will of the Universe is not always perfectly clear, especially when it itself is ambivalent about something. In these cases, the will of many gods is taken as an acceptable substitute if we are together quite clear about what it is that should be done.

The standard is a minimum of eleven gods to raise up or cast down. Every Realm which has incarnate beings in it has at least that many -- it is standard to offer this to the planet-soul as well as any major stellar bodies visible from the ground or lower atmosphere. There are always species gods. And there are phylum gods: one for animals, one for plants, and so on. Then there are lesser divisions, or culture gods if a sapient species has formed, and so on. There are almost always at least two Blueprint designers to advise; often a Blueprint Master is among them.

The reason for the Blueprint organization is simple: we need a group that does only one thing: track the Patterns of the Universe; map them out; and determine the best way to give the Universe what it needs to continue existing, being careful to follow the will of the Universe if there is any question of what pattern to use.

So having covered the central question and a few diversions, why ask Zeeth to make this post for me? I should explain that many souls are transitioning into a new spiritual reality at this time, and we, the gods of Earth Realm, have had to disempower one of our own to enable it.

I hope this explanation satisfies.

So let's talk about pleiotropy.

The basic idea in this comic is exactly right. That pleiotropic gene controls the hormone necessary for formation of gluteal and neocortical tissues. It specifically controls the number of layers of muscle and neurons added to their respective locations.

There is a detail the comic gets wrong. It's not that humans "lied about our ass obsession". It's that a neocortex which is too large causes schizophrenia (which is a data-processing disorder, and may in fact be a class of disorders with similar symptoms) and other processing disorders. See, the neocortical tissue is about relationships and interconnections (a side effect of all that ass-chasing), and enables abstraction and imagination, as well as generalization of experience. So it's always active. If it's more active than the underlying cortex or limbic structures can support, it will start to fire on irrelevant data, causing anxiety (up to and including paranoia), hallucinations, and a "crowded room" effect where anything including nearby symbols as well as the speech or energies of spirit entities might be translated into more data in an effort to feed the data-hungry neocortex. Classic "buffer underrun" error for continuously-processing analog systems. Ancient humans didn't want to have sex with crazy-acting people any more than modern humans do -- which is to say, rarely at best -- so neocortex size stabilized even though most of us still like big butts.

Otherkin will know this one: I'm not just a dragon. It took time to come out (as these things do when suppressed), as the one BIG thing had to come out first and covered up all the other stuff for a while. I'm also a horse -- actually a unicorn (the wings are a convenience). And an elf. And still sort of metheow (I think). And I'm not sure what all else.

Still otherkin. Still fantastical. Still just as annoyingly real. Letting it out helps a lot. Being able to shapeshift helps a lot. (Spirit ability, not physical. Still helps.) Not that you can tell from the outside without the Sight to show you (or are watching my physical movements and behavior patterns carefully). But there it is.

You know what really sucks in my life? Not having the agency to figure this stuff out without doing a lot of emotional and spiritual battle. You know what sucks more? Not having the agency to stand up for myself and be respected for it.

So I had to take it, not let it be handed to me, because the handing-out of agency doesn't happen when it's sourced in abuse -- abuse based on a person not wanting to do what they're told just because they were told to; I knew what that pattern would lead to, and I balked and bucked until it stopped. Call it the conflict model of spirituality... just trust me, you do not want to follow a god (or a parent) who abuses you. The outcome is never good. Walk away if you can.

Just as bad: seeing people still walking into the trap, and knowing that helping them will also hurt them. Not everyone is hurt or used in the same way. Not everyone regrets wanting in.

I don't regret my time in, only that I did things I am not proud of in order to achieve a goal that should not have taken nearly so much time or effort. Because I chose to subvert my own agency in order to "let the children learn" (meaning younger souls) and ultimately I let them teach themselves bad things. So. Time to get my inner house in order, and step up... or walk away entirely. I'm borderline on that, and probably will be until my incarnate life improves or ends.

Diana told me this morning (while I slept) that she wishes I could have done this earlier. I agree. I should probably have stood up and announced myself properly about a hundred years ago, shortly after my soul was cut to ribbons and a quarter of it stolen. That was when everything went bad, as certain beings tried to prevent the crystallization of the draconic soul alloy with Earth (or at least, as far as I know that's why it happened).

We could have had amazing social and technological leaps far earlier. You don't lose agency, you gain advisors and Family who are happy to help you and everyone you love enter a better path.

And maybe we could have avoided such intense global warming by learning as humans to clean up after ourselves a lot better. The Earth can't absorb everything we dump into her, and we've been dumping into the places we grow and harvest our food and resources. Not good.

I don't know how I should end this post. So I'll just stop here.

I am Diana, whom most of you know as Goddess of the Hunt among Greek and Roman worshipers.

I am also a dragon. As a dragon I go by the Sanskrit name Maratha, meaning Shadowy. This is a reference to my regular need to hide who and what I truly am.

With the draconic alloy well and truly underway, it is now time for me to reveal myself. I am going to tell you all a story. Zeeth has granted an opportunity for me to tell this story, and permission to use his body as the channel by which I transfer this knowledge to you who read it in days to come.

(This was channeled from Jesus, God and prophet, that it might be understood. He asks that I provide it as-is, and give my own commentary after the litany.)

For you gave me to eat and drink,
And I did not know that I was hungry or thirsty

You gave me shelter,
When I did not know I was unprotected

You clothed me
When I did not know how naked I was

You comforted me
When I did not know my pain or sickness

You visited me
When I did not know I was imprisoned

And you led me in righteous ways
When I did not know I had gone astray.

For each of these things you gave to me
That I might understand them;
You showed me the light of Heaven that I might bear it
In the name of Him who gave himself for the life of all.

---

This litany is spoken to a god, usually God who is of Humankind, when a soul enters that god's house, a metaphor which denotes someone becoming a member of that soul-family. The final verse as written is the one used for God; other dieties tend to use similar wordings. The Litany of the Gifting is usually also followed by a formal response, The Return of Thanks in Grace. That second litany will not be shown at this time.

This litany is in fact an inversion of the pattern of blessings given to others, showing that someone cares enough to do these things which Jesus says in the Bible are the situations he blesses or curses as if they were done to him. (book of Matthew, verses 34-45)

These are not merely duties, but outcomes of deep compassion for those in need, and a willingness to forgive the wrong-headed so that they can observe a model of better behavior. They are not always carried out well, but they are understood to be the basis by which Heaven is founded, the actions which create Heavenly nature in spirit.

Would that we each could experience such love. I myself would add, "Gave comfort and aid to the mocked and misunderstood" and "Allowed each their beliefs, but gave enlightenment to those willing".. but that's not the usual phrasing of this traditional litany, born in the early times of humankind's expansion when basic needs were the primary thing people thought of throughout their day.

So why, after all this noise and mess and going-about, did the Universe suggest to the gods that me being strictly human was a good idea, while telling me over and over and over "You are a dragon"?

In order to confront prejudice in others, one must first confront it in oneself.

And having posted this, now I'm going to go do dragony things for a while. Like watch some streaming video, then go home, sit on my bed, and have some ice cream. I think I have ice cream, but maybe I'll just get a pint at the grocery on the way.

Yes. Very dragony. Because it's ME doing it.

Peace and love, kids.

For a very long time in this Realm of spirit, the gods considered the relationship of intelligent beings to themselves. The spirits also considered this, though by a different pattern. Different kinds of workers arose among humans as a result, as various humans were called to certain paths or given certain gifts. Humans then gave names to these different workers.

When the gods called, they gained a priest.
When the spirits called, they gained a shaman.
When knowledge was researched and used properly, a magus or alchemist precipitated.
When the mind awakened, a seer (psychic or intuitive in modern parlance) opened their eyes.
When familial lines and natural lore came together, a witch was found at the crossing.

These are different types of work: gods, spirits, spells and alchemy, mind, mind and lore.
However, each of these different jobs has a specific set of relationships.

It is time on Earth that we now meet new awakened persons. The old relationships are good, but they are not complete without this one. As equals we shall meet, and as equals we shall part, each relationship in balance to the others, each job in balance to the others. Instead of being only Avatars and Messiahs, we shall be balance-workers, no more or less powerful and special than the others.

As it should be.

Summary
By call: Priest (gods), shaman (spirits), seer/psychic (personal ability), magus (spells and mysteries), alchemist (chemistry and natural energies), witch (ability and natural lore), empowered (manifestation).
By relationship: Servant (the shaman serves a community, the priest serves one or several gods or major spirits), Partner (empowered/awakened can partner with anyone but usually choose beings philosophically aligned with them), Independent (psychics, usually), Master (magus); witch could take any role.

Sometimes we are asked to do things. If we are responsible for doing these things, it is a duty. If we are not necessarily obligated (by responsibility or by other means), then it is a gift we make to the requester.

Sometimes we wish to tie ourselves to someone, and become part of them or have part of them in every part of us. This is intimacy, and it is not always desired, but this intimacy comes with obligations. After all, this is a way of declaring Family.

In the "waking" realm, the realm of material things and flesh, religion is an organized effort to describe spirituality and provide a pattern of belief and behavior for daily life.

In the realm of spirit, religion is a declaration of Family, and a declaration as to who is Head of Household. To follow a religion is to say "Thou art Great above me."

Some religions claim no diety. That's okay. It still works, for the Ideal is held up as the form of perfection, and Ideal is a thing we cannot fully achieve in this material realm; but Ideal is a thing achieved and perfected in spirit.

We have many families, in flesh and in spirit. We are part of this Universe, this galactic cluster, this galaxy, this stellar cluster, this star's presence, this planet, each in our nations and places, each to each other and our environments and all that is within them. We are part of this Realm and the many Realms within and around it. We are connected in ways we cannot always see, but can be aided to discern. We are One, and we are Many.

Religion is a defined way to practice this connection and to see and speak with each other, a way to say "This is someone who is part of me." It is both dogma and relation.

To be a spiritual person is to acknowledge that there is more than the visible to be discerned. To be religious is to say that there is a method by which that discernment can be practiced.

And it is a Family with whom one practices that way.

Be content if you are content. With or without religion, we are Spirit, and Spirit IS Divine. Even the least has a spark of Diety within.

This is religion.

So I was reading a discussion of cutting from last year (the actual post above this is part of an incredible series of fan-fiction stories wherein a lot of wounded superheroes -- the Avengers -- gain gentle experience in caring for themselves, each other, and their suffering), and Athena spoke up, asking me how I would handle someone who cuts themselves. I opened Notepad and wrote this, channeled from my Higher Self:

When someone who cuts themselves is presented to me (why would they come if they did not know?), I know it as an inversion of externalized aggression. They can't handle the emotional backlash of their experiences, and the pressure becomes so great that they must release it -- often in attacks. But with no external object to attack, they turn internally, and find the self. This is why women cut more: outward aggression is frowned upon, but who among objectifiers objects to self-hate in their sex objects?

So I give the cutter something outward to manifest. In the case of those who make things, I give them tools to destroy, and then something other than themselves to destroy. A hammer (sledge or masonry) and a stone. A cutting torch and metal. A saw (but not a knife!) and wood. The objects are not representational. They are not a person, or a home, or a concept; they are instead something safe upon which aggression can be practiced.

Then I advance that. Once the initial burst of energy is worked out, I give them a better way. I give them tools for outlet. Discernment tells me what material (and what tool! sometimes the tool first) is best for the initial release. The substance then defines the improved tool.

Give them a hammer and stone? Add a chisel, and they become a sculptor.
Give them a cutting torch and steel? Add a welder or a plenishing hammer, and they too become a sculptor -- or a builder.
Give them a saw and wood? Now add a few other tools (chisels, axes, what-have-you). Maybe change the saw to a bandsaw. Or maybe, just maybe, give them a different kind of knife, and teach them how to use it.

Give them a word of power and a block of luminite (a material that receives and holds energy, and releases it as light)? Now add words of control, words of making and shaping, words of being and doing. Give them the ability to manifest the Truth.

Give them color, and they become a painter, whether in inks/pigments or lights.

Gave them a piano wire or guitar string? Now give them a full instrument. Or just teach them to sing. Or make a cake, better than the block of carbohydrate foam they just cut to shreds.

Representational things are for focused stress: This was a bad thing, this is a bad person. Non-representational are for unfocused, and for redirecting stress: This is neutral, but it's safe to focus on when you need it. This is why punching a pillow and talking to an empty chair are effective: the stressor is not there, but a non-representational representation of it/them is.

The more tools can be used on something, particularly tools of violence (or their representations), the more that one needs to give purpose and focus to the sufferer, so that the use of these tools upon their subject does not turn into mere violence. But violent making is still making, and still useful and good in this context. Even a breakdown can be a catalyst for transformation here.

Don't push hard. Give instead an outlet, and then push gently from a safe direction -- or better, from a direction that moves them away from destruction and into something stronger and more lasting. But be careful. You are NOT a torturer, and should never attempt to become one in this work. Losing yourself to that will create exactly the sort of harm you are attempting to cure.
