A wistful sigh
It's hard when you realize the thing keeping you from depressive troubles is a rejection of necessary function... because it involves identity issues that keep you depressed when not addressed. And when the depression is suppressed, the issues don't get addressed because other things stand in the way.
It's the ugliest thing I can think of to do to someone, long-term. The soul breaks itself around this sort of stuff.
